The honest answer is that it depends on your event.
Unlike hiring a standard product off the shelf, every stretch tent installation is unique. A small birthday party in a back garden has very different requirements to a corporate event for 500 guests, and the same tent can take dramatically more time and labour to install depending on the venue.
Rather than offering one-size-fits-all pricing, we provide quotations tailored to your event, so you only pay for what you actually need. Here are the main factors that shape the cost.
1. The Size of the Tent
The most obvious factor is the size of the structure. Larger tents require more fabric, more poles, additional rigging, longer installation times and larger crews. Your guest numbers, seating layout and whether you’re including a dance floor, stage or catering area all influence the size required.

2. Venue Access
This is one of the biggest factors affecting the cost of an installation.
A stretch tent erected on an open sports field or wine estate lawn, where our trucks can park right beside the build site, is relatively quick and straightforward. Compare that to a rooftop venue, a private residence with narrow access, or a city-centre location where equipment must be carried long distances by hand. These installations often require additional crew, more time and, in some cases, specialist lifting equipment.
The tent may be exactly the same size, but the work involved can be vastly different.
3. Distance to the Venue
Where your event is located also plays an important role.
Stretch Inc operates from our depot in Maitland, Cape Town, and every installation involves transporting both our equipment and our crew to and from the venue. A venue three hours from Cape Town becomes roughly 12 hours of travel time for our crew and around 800 kilometres of vehicle travel across the installation and strike.
Travel time, fuel and vehicle operating costs all form part of the overall project, which is why events further from Cape Town naturally cost more than those close to our depot.
4. Ground Conditions
Every venue is different. Grass, gravel, concrete, paving, wooden decks and pool surrounds all require different anchoring methods. In some cases, specialist ballast systems are needed where traditional ground anchors can’t be used.
Choosing the correct installation method is essential for both the safety and the performance of the structure.
5. Duration of the Hire
The length of time you need the tent also affects pricing. A one-day wedding, a three-day festival and a six-month restaurant installation each carry different logistical requirements. Longer-term installations often benefit from different pricing structures than short-term event hires.
6. Additional Equipment
Many clients choose to hire more than just the tent. Depending on your event, you might also need lighting, heaters, flooring, dance floors, decking, astroturf or pool covers.

7. Time of Year
Cape Town’s event calendar has distinct busy and quiet seasons. Summer weekends, particularly during wedding season, are in high demand and book well in advance. Winter often offers greater availability, while longer-term restaurant and hospitality installations become increasingly popular.
Booking early gives you the greatest choice of dates and tent sizes.
8. Safety and Compliance
For larger public events, additional safety requirements may apply. Depending on the venue and event, this can include engineering certification, municipal approvals, Building Development Management (BDM) certification, traffic management plans or other compliance requirements.
