One cold winters day in 2015 we decided we needed to use our downtime to help the less fortunate, and our team came up with the idea to start our very own soup kitchen in the heart of Cape Town. We called it ‘’the Stretch kitchen’’.
We set up a tent in a park on McKenzie Street, made a huge pot of healthy and hearty soup, and started giving food away to anyone who was hungry. We continued to do this at the same time every week, and our following grew and grew – until we had become an integral part of the lives of the less fortunate in Cape Town.
At the Stretch Kitchen, in partnership with Kwikspar on Kloof, we hand out around a hundred free meals every week, as well as run park clean-up projects on a bi-weekly basis. We are proud of this initiative and proud of the effect we are having on both our community and the environment.
If youd like to get involved, please contact us – it’s always great having some new faces to help out!
